Well it's certainly crept up on us but it's here! New Year!! Woohoo!! The time to make all those New Years resolutions and never stick to them! Ok ... so I know that's not always the case but I guarantee some of you are just like me! You say one thing and by the 2nd week of January your back to your same old habits and feeling guilty as hell!
Apparently by the 2nd Friday in January (11.01.19) most people will actually give up on their New Years resolutions. They call it 'quitters day'. How depressing is that? So I know, you're going to ask .. 'What's your New Years Resolution, Sam?'. Well ... it sounds corny but hear me out!
Every year I say I'm going to get fitter, or aim for something really, really big. This year I'm fed up with all that. So what am I going to promise myself? (Brace yourself for a corny moment here) ... I'm going to be happy. I know .. cringe! BUT! Sometimes you get so caught up with things that you forget how much you already have. Honestly, it's all about the little, day to day, things and appreciating them.
Over the past few years I've become so caught up with everything that I have forgotten how far I've come in terms of my business, my personal life, the horses etc. It's so easy to always want the next best thing, but what about what you have already achieved?
2019 is going to be a big year for me, why? Because I'm going to finally appreciate what I already have. Instead of saying I'm going to get fitter and lose weight I'm just going to look after myself more and take care of myself from the inside out. Instead of saying I'm going to aim for a certain level with the horses, I'm just going to enjoy my time with them and see where it takes us. Don't get me wrong, I still have goals, but I'm not going to become so focused on them that it turns into a negative experience because I haven't reached them- yesterday! Everything takes times and when you stop enjoying the process it takes so much longer. What's that quote again? 'Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome', Arthur Ashe.
So enjoy every moment! Appreciate what you already have. Spend time with family and friends. Drink that glass of wine (not being funny but Nigella always looks good). Live YOUR life and be happy as you live it and I bet you find your 2019 is a cracking one!
Happy New Year guys!
